I've Lost All My Armor

Updated: Aug 26, 2025

Lost in my mind

Howling at moons

Trying to cover

I’m living with loons

Harry’s a monkey

June is a bride

Michael’s a missile

I’m trying to hide

I was so fearless

What’s happened to me?

I’m scared of my shadow

It won’t let me be

Cobwebs in attics

Arsenic and lace

I’ve lost all my armor

Got to get out of this place

Milk and pure honey

A sweet baby’s breath

Stones on my cheeks

My favorite blue dress

My momma’s in heaven

My daddy’s in hell

I hear them a’calling

As clear as a bell

Sailing the river

Counting the drops

That make up the ocean

That cover the rocks

Talking to Jesus (hesus)

Reviving the past

Hope is an anchor

That won’t let me pass

I was so fearless

What’s happened to me?

I’m scared of my shadow

It won’t let me be

Cobwebs in attics

Arsenic and lace

I’ve lost all my armor

Got to get out of this place

Sugar and spice and

Everything nice

They locked up my sister

For taking a slice

Linda’s a leopard

Carl’s a joke

Sandy’s a lizard

I’m a split yolk

All the king’s horses

And all the king’s men

Held the tribunal and

Can’t put me together again

My hair was my headdress

The princess is lost

The white knight is riding

Not counting the cost

The threads are all broken

The weavers are through

I’ve taken and taken

The last bit of you

I’ve told you and told you

You haven’t a clue

There’s spiders on earlobes

They’re going to bite you

I was so fearless

What’s happened to me?

I’m scared of my shadow

It won’t let me be

Cobwebs in attics

Arsenic and lace

I’ve lost all my armor

Got to get out of this place

Try and remember

Whatever you do

Cause if you're forgetful

They’ll lock you up too.

Someone may someday

Ask where I’ve been

Just tell them so softly

She’s jailed for her sin

Hansel & Gretel

Help me get back

From this dark rehearsal

The curtains are black

Joni’s a tiger

Tom is a fool

Sidney’s a pumpkin

I’m a sharp tool

I’ve found all the marbles

Kaleidoscope haze

They keep on hiding

The sun and its rays

The laughter is sparking

The loneliest mask

I’m running barefoot

Through Angora grass

The window is open

The door is ajar

Watching the mirror

I’ve come very far

I’m again fearless

Or learning to be

The past not forgotten

But not chasing me

Dusting the attic

Replacing the lace

My armor is rusty

But back in its place

The losses are tallied

They’re all in my book

I’ll sell it to TV

Make out like a crook

I will remember

Whatever I do

I won’t be staying

I’m outside at two

But sometimes in darkness

When the moon is so full

And the ivy is creeping

Toward my windowsill

I tell myself stories

And Amazon dreams

Women of power

And lances and beams

I run with them then

Tell them the past

Reflected in teardrops

That always will last

My mind was a valley

Of ravens and bones

I’m now on the mountain

Rebuilding the thrones

I would not tell you

To go where I’ve been

But I’m glad that I’m back

With the living again.

I’m again fearless

Or learning to be

The past not forgotten

But not chasing me

Dusting the attic

Replacing the lace

My armor is rusty

But back in its place

I will remember

Whatever I do

I won’t surrender.

Will you?
